Camp Quality and Royal Caribbean have joined together again in 2017 to host Family Fun Days onboard ships throughout the country – designed to let kids impacted by cancer simply focus on having fun for the day.

2017 marks the eighth year the cruise line has supported Camp Quality, the homegrown charity helping provide innovative programs and services to develop life skills and strengthen the wellbeing of children aged 0-13 growing up with cancer, as well as their families. Royal Caribbean shoreside staff and ship crews hosted 20 families throughout the country on its megaliners, transforming the ships into the kids’ own personal playground for a day.

Camp Quality’s National Partnerships Manager, Jane Hutchison, is thankful to Royal Caribbean for their ongoing support of Fun Days for Camp Quality.

“Since the partnership began eight years ago with Royal Caribbean, Family Fun Days have brought a lot of joy and happiness to children and their families,” said Hutchison. “These Family Fun Days give families impacted by cancer the chance to reconnect and create memories outside the hospital.”

This year two ships from the cruise lines locally-based fleet, Voyager of the Seas and Radiance of the Seas, played host to dozens of families in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. While onboard, families were treated to a grand buffet lunch and an action-packed day with crew from the award-wining Adventure Ocean kids club, with science and games, mini golf, rock climbing, plus surfing on Voyager of the Seas and swimming in the kid’s water park on Radiance of the Seas.

“It’s amazing to see the children’s faces light up as they catch some waves on the FlowRider, climb to the top of the rock climbing wall, or meet their favourite DreamWorks characters,” said Adam Armstrong, managing director, Royal Caribbean Australia & NZ. “Year after year, we hear what fun these days are for the kids, and their parents. It is truly a privilege to help brighten their day.”

“Camp Quality Family Fun days are such a rewarding experience and a highlight of our season. We love supporting this amazing charity and we look forward to welcoming Camp Quality onboard next summer,” Armstrong concluded.
